Sports Injuries

Overuse problems, varying from acute to long-term chronic conditions, as well as shin splints, Achilles tendonitis, knee pain, back pain and heel pain can all be common problems for a sportsperson.

A physical biomechanical assessment will be carried out, which looks at the way the bones, muscles, and associated structures such as tendons are aligned and interact. Footscan and/or Podosmart Gait Analysis may be used. Other factors will also be looked at, such as stability, body posture and other musculoskeletal factors, considering the type of sport and provide advice on what you can do for yourself, such as stretching and strengthening exercises. The option of using Physi-Track app-based programmes is available. Insoles or orthotics may be prescribed (see further details in Orthotics & Insoles), alongside footwear advice.

Where appropriate, kinesiology taping may be used, Claire is RockDoc Level 1 qualified for lower limb taping and can usually teach you to apply this correctly yourself.
