Skin Problems
Corns and callus are often painful, affecting the way you walk and leading on to other problems. Treatment is usually pain free, Claire is experienced in removing corns and callus and implementing a personal treatment plan to prevent their recurrence. This may include footwear advice, paddings, exercises and the prescription of insoles or orthotics.
Athlete’s foot
A fungal infection of the skin that can lead to intense itching, cracked, blistered or peeling areas of skin, redness and scaling. Claire can diagnose this common problem and provide effective treatment and prevention options.
Chilblains
Also called pernio, are small itchy, red (and sometimes purple) swellings on the skin, which can become increasingly painful, swell and then dry out leaving cracks in the skin that expose the foot to the risk of infection. Although not so common these days, Claire has seen plenty over the years, and can treat and advise on the best course of action.
Cracked heels
Can be painful and unsightly, podiatry treatment and good self-care will usually solve the problem.
Verrucae
Verrucae are plantar warts that commonly occur on the soles of the feet or around the toe area. They are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which is contagious through direct person-to-person contact. Various treatments are available including the application of strong acid in a specialised dressing and cryotherapy (freezing).
